Welcome To St. James', KolkataNot much is known about our founding fathers, but this much is certain that it began with a vision - a vision for children who, irrespective of language, creed or colour would grow up in an institution devoid of racial prejudices, would be able to express themselves fearlessly and be taught by teachers totally committed to the cause of sound, all-round, value based education. St. James' School was established in 1864. It was inaugurated by the then Most Revd. George Edward Cotton- the Bishop of Calcutta on 25th July 1864. Almost from its inception, reports show that these were years of stress and struggle. In the first twenty years of its existence the school faced intensive financial difficulties and had to be closed in December 1904. According to reports, there was an upsurge of sentiment on the part of parents, well wishers and old boys at the closure of the school.

The Interact club of St.James’ School is a
Community driven social service club which overlooks all the major events that takes place in the Alma Mater from 2019 to 2021. It firmly believes that our deeds and
the community we are a apart of often defines us and our individual selves. It strives to be an ever-exisitng testament for the juniors to cater to the importance of social values
through the various events it manages in the hope of bringing cultural groups closer to harmonry, to kindle love for the environment, self awareness
through sports and care towards less fortunate in society.
Every year this committee has reached out to transcend all those differences life creates in the society for all of us must enjoy the privileges of life.
The Interact community at St. James' Kolkata provides platforms to the students to nurture themselves, to learn and grow as one entity
through self reflection, continous perseverance, social service to the
underprivileged and the people around us
The community has successfully published the first issue of School Scroll, a yearly magazine that records encouraging efforts and wonderful outcomes
it strives for. The Interact club of St.James’ School has been doing these projects for nearly a decade and as we drift through these tough Covid times it
has been our Aim to bring about betterment of our surroundings and uplifting of the community, mainly the surpressed.
